Five Chinese Nationals Quarantined, One Arrested In Kwale

At least five Chinese constructors have been put under forced self-quarantine and one intercepted after trying to sneak into the country through the Lunga Lunga border point in Kwale.

The three Chinese nationals from Kanana and two in Jego construction sites were set to observe the coronavirus 14 days self-quarantine guide rules after arriving in Kenya in the past two weeks from China.

According to the Lunga Lunga Deputy County Commissioner Josphat Biwot, they had to isolate the Chinese nationals to heighten the efforts by the government to fight the spread of the COVID-19.

Biwot spoke in an interview on Thursday, saying that they have outlined strict monitoring measures to ensure the foreigners are in 24-hour surveillance.

“We have maximized our observance and close monitoring of the quarantined to make sure they abide by the rules, ” he said.

The Chinese national had entered Kenya illegally and were immediately apprehended after a tip-off from the locals.

The Administrator applauded the residents’ patriotism that has protected many Kenyans at the verge of coronavirus outbreak.

At the border checkpoint movement has been limited and only a few passenger buses are allowed.

The DCC said a lot of sensitization has been done all the way from Jasini, Kilamangodo and Mwereni and everyone is vigilant.

“Nobody can pass the border check units without our knowledge because we have spread the word about this coronavirus and people are cooperating, ” he added.

Biwot said standard operating procedures are in place one of them is the health status body screening.

This is reported as the cases of coronavirus infection in the country remain seven a sign that Kenya has made a great step in containing the COVID-19.
